Fact of the Day: When to Drink A Glass of Water

Didn’t know this! … Did you?
About 90% of heart attacks occur early in the morning and it can be minimized if one takes a glass or two of water NOT alcohol or beer before retiring in the evening.

I knew water is important but I never knew about the special times to drink it. Did you??

Drinking water at the correct time maximizes its effectiveness on the Human body :

2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

“Cocaine is a Hell of a Drug” - Woman: ‘I’m Obama’s mom’; refuses to leave Zaxby’s

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A woman was charged with disorderly conduct at a Lawrenceville Zaxby’s after ranting and failing to leave the restaurant.

Police said Audrey Farley, 57, claimed to be President Barack Obama’s mother, shouted obscenities, and told them she needed a ride home because ” the city of Lawrenceville had changed everything and she did not know where she was.”

Farley was asked to leave the restaurant several times, according to police, and each time refused.

Farley was arrested without incident and was taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

#FinancialTweetoftheDay Expanded - Netflix Spins off DVD Business

@Netflix I do not like the decision to split the business in 2. It will cause brand confusion and unnecessary duplication of operational resources. Following through with this move will continue to batter the stock since a dark cloud regarding future subscriber growth and earnings guidance will thicken even more as a result of the two businesses being split in two.

I guess we all understand why @Netflix suffered a 52% drop in stock price from their 52 week high that was achieved on 7/13/11. I wonder if a move to sell the business is on the table, and this is an effort to trim the fat by “spinning off” the lackluster performing businesses/assets or assets that will cause future margin pressure in an effort to make themselves more attractive to a suitor. Unfortunately, that does not explain why they would venture into renting video games. With their market cap and war chest of cash, it makes more sense to buy Gamefly.com and phase an existing client base into their current framework rather than building an entity from the ground up.

The Netflix decision is a confusing move that shows no relevance or upside at this time. Only the future and time will tell if this was a smart forecast or the unseeding of what was once a strong business model. Regardless, a market cap loss of $7.6B (as of 9:49 am EST on 9/19/2011) from their 52 week high (as of 7/13/11) must be a difficult pill to swallow.

Wyndham to implement Anti-Prostitution Training

According to HotelMag.com, in response to allegations coming out of an 18-month federal investigation that Travelodge motel staff aided a criminal enterprise by helping Crips gang members running a child prostitution ring pick rooms less likely to be detected by police in exchange for cash, Wyndham Worldwide revealed to CNN on Friday that it is implementing new staff training procedures in light of child prostitution busts in Cali motels.

Clearly this is no laughing matter but #cmon can you imagine what the training will include? I mean as a former front desk manager, the training is already a bit much. I remember the monthly training for dealing with the “The Quiet Customer” vs. “The Angry Customer” and that was painful enough because in the end, you have to wing it when you’re in a real situation and good personal judgement is everything. Bottom line, there is no training for this type of situation. Actually, maybe there is….

Training Script:

F/D: Hello, Crips gang member. How can I assist you?
Crip: Wha up, lemme get a room so I can handle my bidness n I’ll give u cash so the boyz won’t kno, Cool?
F/D: Umm, I can not accept no such agreement

Banter back and forth……front desk agent gets shot

Long story short, just rent the room and call the boyz. Training over.

No but, in all seriousness, child prostitution is no joke and you have to applaud the Wyndham for making a conscientious effort and establishing partnerships with organizations like the Polaris Project and ECPAT to take a stance against prostitution and human trafficking. On another note, good luck training team with this one.
